SF 6665 BRINGTON GREAT BRINGTON

20/10001 Numbers, 54 and 55

GV II

Pair of semi-detached estate cottages. Circa 1848 for the Althorp
estate. Coursed ironstone with Flemish bond red brick front with
ironstone dressings. Slate roof with stone coped gable ends with
shaped kneelers. Central brick axial stack.

PLAN: Pair of semi-detached cottages with side entrances, central rear
wing and flanking rear blocks. Neo-Tudor style.

EXTERIOR: 2 storey. Symmetrical 2-bay front, the gabled bays slightly
advanced and with shields in gables, the left with finial. 3-light
wooden mullion windows, the ground floor with transoms, all with
diamond leaded panes. On either gable end a chamfered 4-centred arch
doorway with arch ribbed doors and chamfered 4-centred arch window
above. At rear central gabled wing and flanking 2-storey blocks with
pyramidal roofs.
