Linked pairs of town houses. 1824 by John Nash (built by W M Nurse) as part of
his Regent's Park Crown Estate development. Stucco with channelled ground
floor; slate roofs. Balanced composition, dressed with Ionic pilaster order.
4 storeys (including attic storey) on basement with single storey links with 2
entrances. 3-window wide fronts (centre blind) to each pair. Ionic columned
doorway in antis to links, Ionic columned porch to return of No 1 and in antis
porch to return of No 4. Recessed glazing bar sashes. 1st and 2nd floors
articulated by shallow Greek Ionic giant pilasters. 1st floor sill band and
main entablature carried by pilasters; attic cornice and blocking course.
Geometric patterned cast iron balconettes to 1st floor windows. Spear head cast
iron area railings. Upper Harley Street was originally known as Brunswick
Place.
