Town "villa". C19 rebuild of mews building. Stuccoed with channelled
ground floor; slate roof. Interesting case of "Regency" Revival (or survival).
2 storeys and dormered mansard on basement. 4 windows wide. Architraved and
corniced doorway in 2nd bay from left. Segmental bowed tripartite window to
right and with pilaster dividers and entablature; otherwise glazing bar sashes
recessed in architraves. Corniced dormers with casements. Single storey one
window extension to right. Channelled quoins; 1st floor sill band; crowning
dentil cornice and parapet balustraded beneath each dormer. Cast iron plumbed
spike finialed area railings. Early instance of the Portland (Howard de Walden)
Estate re-introducing a domestic residential character in this professional
area - a scheme pursued on these east-west cross streets in the early 1900s.
