Pair of houses. Maclaren. 1890. Red brick. Portland stone dressings. Green
pitched slate roof to eaves. 4 storeys,attic and basement. 5 main bays.
Asymmetrical composition in Arts and Crafts manner. Entrances to third bay off
centre and to right hand side flanked by half columns. Large polygonal bay
window to right with applied shafts, heavy foliated frieze and cornice and lead
roof. Canted bay to left rising from ground to third floor, finishing in
Portland stone parapet. Rich foliated band to first floor. Square headed first
floor windows except centre window which round headed. Second floor windows
segmental headed. Third floor windows square headed. Flush frames to second and
third floors. Sashes, glazing bars; leaded lights to first floor central
windows. First floor balcony to left and centre bays. Portland stone band above
second floor; rich cornice above third floor. Decorative lead guttering to
eaves. Dormers. Decorative slab chimneys. Decorative ironwork to balcony, to
area railings and to third floor. Interior not inspected.
