Mid-late C19 shopping parade in Gothic style. Each building two storeys and attic,
two windows except, at ends and flanking the centre, taller cross gabled houses
with one wide window. Stock brick with stone dressings. Slated mansard roof
with tall, stone faced gabled dormers. Paired pointed windows under hoodmoulds
with leafy stops and leaf patterns in spandrels. In taller sections, windows
have carved panels of interlaced beasts and foliage in mediaeval style between
the floors and stiff leaf capitals to first floor jambs and pilaster mullions.
Projecting ground floor with stone-coped parapet above shop fronts divided by
pilasters. Nos 6 and 24 largely original with pedimented entrances and an upper
tier of small paned glazing above shop fronts. Other shops more or less altered.
