Hotel. Late C18, early C20. Encased in brick, mid C20 retaining
C18 doors and windows. Red brick, some blue brick and render.
Slate roof, hipped to the right. 2 ridge and single rear lateral
rendered stacks. Raised eaves band. Two and a half storeys, 7
bays. Basket arched carriage way with blue brick jambs. To the
left is an early C20 shop front. Projecting canted shopwindow
with plain fixed lights and casements over, to the left is the
recessed doorway with part glazed door, entablature. To the
right of the archway are 2 glazing bar sashes, further right is
the doorway with round arched doorway with fielded panelled door
and radiating fanlight, moulded surround with imposts flanked by
single Ionic columns with fluted dosserets which support an open
pediment. On the far right is a single Venetian window with
glazing bar sashes and small key block. Above are 5 glazing bar
sashes and on the right a single similar Venetian window.
Corresponding window pattern above, the openings being smaller
and the Venetian window lacking key block. Right return wall
with doorway with panelled door and moulded doorcase with patera.
To the right are 2 glazing bar sashes, to the left a single small
plain sash and on the far left a single large plain sash. Above
are 3 glazing bar sashes and on the top floor 2 small glazing bar
sashes.
