Probably C18 but incorporating timbers from a medieval building. The date 1779
with the monogram 'TP' has been carved on the post on the east side of the main
entrance doors. The barn is of the traditional double-aisled type of 5 bays,
the middle bay a wooden threshing floor. The framing comprises 4 main trusses
of braced tie beam type with raking queen struts but no collars. The purlins
are joggle-jointed and butter into the principal rafters. The aisle posts rest
upon short brick piers. The exterior is weatherboarded set on a brick base and
the end walls each have a modillioned window. Half-hipped steeply pitched roof,
now clad with tiles. Central hipped pentice.
Group value with Orange Court Farmhouse.
