6/33 Methodist Chapel

Methodist chapel. 1864. Pale orange brick with red and white
brick and ashlar dressings and some polychromatic work, slate
roof. The chapel has an hexagonal end and is single storey with
3 bay gable end to street. It has a chamfered brick plinth,
dentillated brick band which runs over window heads, dentillated
verge and doubly dentillated eaves course. The main front has a
central window consisting of 2 lights flanked by single lights,
with pointed heads, Y tracery to central head and 3 circular
mullions with moulded capitals. Above the window is an inscribed
stone "Methodist Free Church". Beneath the window are 2 lozenge
shaped openings. To either side are projecting gabled doorways
with stepped stone coped tumbled gables and decorative kneelers.
The planked doors have ornate hinges. Above the door arch is a
further dentillated brick band. The side elevation has 3 pairs
of lancet windows with dentillated brick band over. Listed for
group value only.
