GV II

Remains of wall, probably part of monastic building rather
than a defensive structure. Considered to be C13 with several
later phases of stone replacement and repairs in brickwork
including C20 concrete lintels to low-level openings and plain
clay weather capping. Mainly constructed of red sandstone.
PLAN: Straight section of wall running approx. north to south.
Present exposed elevation (west) was originally the internal
face of the wall. Masonry is rough-dressed with a punch finish
and laid to courses. Approx. 9m. long by 4,5m. high by 0.8m.
thick. Four former window openings at first-floor level, 2 at
ground level aligned with the pair above. Information ref.
