Queen Anne. Stucco; of 3 bays with side pavilions; central block of 2 storeys;
3 sashes; 3 3-light windows with pediments, and segmental heads to those of lower
storey; single-storeyed 2-window wings, each connecting with 2-storey pavilion.
Fenestration throughout similar to above; hipped slate roofs. The facade to
rear has a convex Ionic porch on 4 columns with Palladian doorcase and Palladian
window sides. The grounds are largely converted into a golf course. The birthplace (in 1714) and home of William Shenstone. The building is not architecturally outstanding but is given the highest grading in view of its literary and social associations and its high repute in C18 landscape gardening.
