Chest tomb, c 1763. Simple rectangular stone tomb, with flat
undecorated top. At the west is a stone slab with chamfered
top inscribed "WILs SHENSTONE ..... 1763 ......"; part part of
the inscription is now obliterated. William Shenstone was
a poet and landscape theorist, very influential in his life-
time who transformed his garden at Leasowes into one of the
first natural landscape gardens in England.
