5/25 The Old Hall
II
House. 1647, C18, early C19. Coursed blue lias rubble, rough limestone
ashlar, red brick and C20 slate roofs. C17 rectangular block dominated by
massive, undivided central stone ridge stack with pronounced coping, with 2
later rendered gable stacks and stone coped gables. 2 storeys with attic,
3 irregular bay front with limestone dressed rubble plinth and ashlar 1st floor
band. Doorway in north end with partially glazed C20 door. To the south are
2 windows with a blocked window between them. Above the door and the 1st window
to the south are 2 windows. All the windows have glazing bar sashes. Above
are 2 dormers with casements. North return contains 3 C17 blocked mullion
windows, the ground and 1st floor windows of 4 lights and the garret window
of 3. Above it is a worn datestone inscribed 1647. C18 brick kitchen, brew
and bake house and C19 stables to west.
