Houses, and Barn
at Grange Farm

Crew yard, beast houses and barn. Late C18, with late C19
alterations. Coursed limestone rubble, ashlar quoins and
dressings. Collyweston slate roofs. E-plan. Single storey, 2
bay front range, having central double planked doors in a
segmental arched opening. With above a blank keyedocculus to
segmental gable over. To right a segmental arched opening with
beyond 2 planked pig feeding hatches to gable of side range. The
centre gable is flanked by 2 similar segmental gables, each
having a keyed occulus flanked by single circular openings. The
crew yard corrugated iron roofs are supported on square brick
piers. In the late C18 barn a planked doorway and 2 segmental
arched planked openings. The side walls have planked doorways
and louvred openings. The barn has C19 King post roof. The farm
belonged to the Brownlow and Cust families.
