Post Office. 1905. Brick with stone dressings, slate roof.
Central 3 bays of 2 storeys with attic, flanking one-storey,
6- and 4-bay blocks. Stone base, flush bands and flush
stone quoin strips. Centre has cornice to central bay and
angles of flanking bays. Ground floor has Diocletian windows
with rusticated voussoirs, keystones and segmental open
pediments. All windows are sashed with glazing bars. 1st
floor 3:1:3 round-headed windows with eared architraves and
triple keystones, that to central bay has flanking engaged
Ionic columns; open pediment above contains dated cartouche,
parapet above. Flanking bays have coped gables with round
windows with swags below and triple keystones. End bays have
Diocletian windows and segmental parapets. Other bays have
windows in architraves with triple keystones, some paired.
Central entrance is round-headed with rusticated stone piers
and voussoirs and segmental open pediment. Plaque with
'POST OFFICE' above. Entrances to 5th and 12th bays have
architraves and small-paned overlights with triple
keystones.
