Mill building, now dwelling. Largely early C19, though fragments of granite
rubble plinth walling suggest an earlier core. Extensively restored, 1965
when converted to residential use. Painted brickwork with Welsh slate roof.
Main block of two and a half storeys and 2 bays, built up against the mill
dam. Wide doorway to left with 2-light casement windows above, on each floor,
the attic light beneath a gabled dormer. Large full height first floor window
to right above tiny original opening to wheel chamber, with cambered brick
head. Lower range recessed to the left, of 2 bays and one and a half
storeys. Cambered headed doorway and upper loading door now window in a
gabled dormer. Inside all machinery survives intact. The wheel, which is
dated 1901 is by Cartwright of Loughborough and is of the overshot type.
Drive system has two wallowers unusually mounted on a horizontal axis. Two
pairs of millstones, of French Burr and millstone grit. Belt pulley is all
that survives of the grain feeder and sack hoist systems.
