4/52 Rothschild Farmhouse

II

House. C18 with early C19 alterations. Facade and right gable chequered red
and grey brick. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys on galletted stone plinth with
renewed brick parapet. Gable end stacks. Regular 2-window front of 16-pane
glazing bar sashes in open boxes with splayed voussoirs. Central C18
panelled door with 2 top lights under small C19 porch with 2 Corinthian
columns and triangular wooden pediment inscribed "Rothschild Farm Cottage".
C19 two-storey addition to rear tile-hung on first floor, with lean-to roof.
Former forge to left much altered in C20. Interior: only partly inspected.
Medieval timbers re-used as beams and joists on ground floor.
