House, formerly house and forge, now house and shop. Early-to-mid C16 with
alterations of 1699 and C19. Forge probably C19. Timber framed. Front elevation
red brick in Flemish bond, right gable rendered. Plain tile roof. 4 timber-framed
bays with hall of 2 unequal-length bays, one possibly a smoke-bay. 2 storeys.
Jetty to left gable end. Exposed posts to gable ends. Roof hipped with gablets.
Rear stack towards left. Small central gable with moulded and patterned bargeboards
and pendant, dated 1699. Irregular fenestration of 4 leaded casements; one 2-light
to each end, one 3-light under central gable, and small single light under stack.
Ribbed door with segmental head beneath stack. Forge: Adjoining towards rear
of right gable end. Red brick with flint gable end to right. Plain tile roof.
Single storey. Roof half-hipped to right. Small red brick ridge stack set at
angle towards left. 2 windows to gable end, flanking boarded door, all with
segmental heads. Single-storey lean-to in angle between house and forge. Interior:
Exposed framing. Plain crown-posts. C17 newel staircase between stack and door.
