House, possibly formerly cottages, now house. Late C18. Timber framed,
weatherboarded, with plain tile roof. 2 timber-framed bays. 2 storeys,
on rendered plinth. Hipped roof. Broad projecting stack with rendered
base and brick flue, to right gable end. Irregular fenestration of 2
three-light casements. Two similar windows to ground floor. Boarded
door up four steps to right of centre. Rear lean-to with rendered base
and weatherboarded gable. Interior: chamfered-principal posts with long
cut jowls. Chamfered tie-beams and wall-plates. Clasped-purlin roof
with diminishing principal rafters. Curved tension braces to rear first-
floor wall. Chamfered ground-floor beam, and stair trimmer to rear left
corner. Broad red and grey brick ground-floor fireplace with bevelled
bressumer and blocked bread oven. C19 first-floor grate. Hair plaster
infilling with pricked pattern to rear first-floor wall. Formerly known
as Forge Cottage.
