Farmhouse, now 3 dwellings. C16 with later alterations including late
C19 raising of eaves. Rendered cob and limestone rubble; gabled Welsh
slate roof; brick end and axial stacks. 3-unit plan with through
passage, extended to front left in early C19 and to right in C17. 2
storeys; 5-window range. C20 half-glazed doors and C20 casements,
except three C19 casements with glazing bars to first floor. Late C19
four-panelled (2 glazed) door to lean-to on left. Interior: long
lower room to left of through passage has a deep fireplace with oven,
kiln, curing chamber and herringbone brick fireback; fire bressummer
has housing for C16 joists (floor raised C18); plain C18 joists and
beam and reset plank door; remains of inserted fireplace to right
divide lower room into two parts. Through-passage with flanking
chamfered beams. C17 plank door to hall, which has chamfered 2-light
wood-mullioned window to rear with C16 quartered chamfered beams and
open fireplace with half-pyramid stops to stone jambs and brattishing
to moulded overmantle beam; curing chamber to rear of hall stack, a
rare example, has an arched and rebated wooden doorframe at first
floor level. Stud partition to inner room has inserted chamfered and
arched doorframe to stairs with plank partition surmounted by reset
early C17 screen with turned balusters and carved lozenge panels.
Jointed cruck trusses with lap-jointed collars and trenched through
purlins. Cottage to right not inspected but noted as having, reset C16
beam and other'features. Roof space could not be fully inspected.
