2/6 Saltmoor Pumping Station
II
Pumping station and manager's dwelling. Mid C19, extended at rear with new engine mid C20. Red brick, English bond,
squared and coursed lias plinth, hipped slate roof, brick stack between first and second bays left, brick stack rising
from eaves right, triple Roman tiles to original engine house with battered chimney, corrugated iron roofed additipn.
L-plan, chimney and engine in south-east corner, lean-to addition on south front containing C20 engine. North front
facing river, 2 storeys, 1:3 bays, first floor end bay left unlit, all 2-light windows, entrance to dwelling second bay
left, square headed plank door with decorative hinges, similar door with plain hinges to pump house between first and
second bays left. Left return tall lias plinth forcing retaining wall to water channel known as Engine Drove. Interior
not seen.
