II

Mill and millers house, now dwelling. Late C18-early C19. Coursed and dressed chert stone, triple Roman tiled roof
hipped to left, half hipped west wing, gabled east wing with coped verges, assorted clay tiles on east wing, brick
stack rising from eaves on left return. U-plan facing south-west, level of ground drops away steeply to west towards
river, access from road on east side at first floor level. South west front: two storeys, 1:2 bays, evidence of
rebuilding end bay right, 3-light leaded wooden casements flanking remains of 4-light casement, ground floor 3 and
4-light left of entrance to dwelling, plank door, cantilever corrugated iron porch, early C20 2-light window to right,
segmental headed doorway right, chamfered corner at first floor level. Right return fronting road, single storey with
attic, left gabled loft opening with pointed arch head window possibly reused, mid C20 concrete block mounting block
type construction for milk churns (not of special interest), 4 bays right including square headed doorway adjoining.
Left return, first floor loft opening, 3-light window to right, ground floor square headed doorway flanked by windows,
corrugated iron roofed lean-to at gable end. Interior not accessible at time of survey and generally in poor condition
(August 1985). The waterwheel is believed to survive in situ at east gable end. Remains of the mill leat still visible.
