ST24SW FIDDINGTON CP CHURCH ROAD (East side)

House. C17, early C20 alterations. Roughcast, roof in two distinct parts of differing height, to left double-Roman
tiles, to right triple Roman tiles, 2 brick ridge stacks. Cross-passage plan, later alterations. Two storeys, 1:2 bays,
C20 casements with glazing bars, that to first floor of left bay in a half dormer. Half-glazed door to centre, gabled
hood on 2 wooden posts. Interior with a plank and muntin partition flanking the cross passage; room to right of ground
floor with chamfered and stopped ceiling beams; broad open fireplace with a wooden bressuier, stone jambs; adjacent to
it the well of a former winder staircase; some ornamental plasterwork to first floor consisting of Tudor roses, a
fleur-de-lys, small bosses and a date:- "1638", raised letters. The plasterwork is said to be the work of itinerant
craftsmen who paid for their lodgings in kind. The name of the property is postulated as springing from the fact that a
Norman occupied the site in Cll. Included primarily because of its internal features.
