House, incorporating drapers' guild hall. Datable to 1560 from
documentary sources, some framing renewed early C20.
Timber-framed with plain tiled roof.
3 storeys, 2-window range, with advanced block to right over
doorway. Framed with close studding with twisted shafts
superimposed on the vertical elements. Right-hand bay has
4-centred arched doorway to ground floor, giving access to
passage, with decorative spandrels and a 12-pane sash window
alongside. Leaded 3-light mullioned and transomed oriel window
above, and 4-light leaded mullioned and transomed window over.
Left-hand gable bay has ogee braces to ground floor, and two
24-pane sash windows. Moulded bressumer to slightly jettied
upper storey, which has 6-light mullioned and transomed window
with leaded upper lights. Quatrefoil panelling beneath the
window. Decorative timberwork in the gable, with lozenge
pattern around king post, and barge-boards enriched with vine
scrolls, and finial. Attached to front wall is a section of
raised pavement with surrounding low brick and stone wall
surmounted by railings with spearhead finials.
