Well head. C18. Dressed stone. Water issues from a low opening in a stone wall set into a bank and flows through a
shallow channel with dressed stone sides; flanking rubble walls extend to each side enclosing the spring area. Further
section of walling on roadside extending approximately SW to each side of the well. A medieval site, but most of what
can now be seen has been rebuilt. One of the most authentic holy wells of Somerset. It was here, in AD 709, that St.
Aldhem died while on his visitation, (Hornet E., Holy Wells of Somerset, l923).
