C16, timber framed. 3 storeys; large gable to jettied 2nd floor, supported on 4
moulded brackets, heavily moulded bressumer. Modern wooden casements on 2nd floor;
shallow C17 bay on brackets to 1st floor, tucked below bressumer, it has ovolo
wood mullions, slightly altered, formerly 7, now 6, lights forming square bay with
moulded cill and cornice. Ground floor has tiled pentice hood over good c.1900
arcaded shop front; the bressumer of 1st floor jetty partly recovered and revealed:
moulded with Tudor rosettes on underside. 2 light traceried perpendicular window
to side now bricked up.
Rear to Apple Alley: projecting 2½ storey gabled extension over basement, Regency
surround to ground floor window.
Interior: plain roof structure. Good chimney piece on 1st floor with lintel ornamented
with rosettes (circa 1530s), moulded cornice, angled base with stop chamfered
surround. On ground floor a Regency office incorporating an C18 arched display
cupboard with shaped shelves. The basement is entered by chamfered doorway to Apple
Alley with 3 centred head and contains a huge corbel of offset stones.
