Malthouse and malt drying kiln,
10 metres South of Little Water
Farmhouse

Granary, now disused malthouse containing malt drying kiln. Probably C17 with inserted C19 malt drying kiln and
addition at rear. Rendered over blue lias, unrendered extension, pantiled roof. Plan: block lying North - South, malt
drying kiln centre, original floor level North end roof raised South end when kiln inserted, building probably
re-roofed then an extension added to West. 2 storeys with lower 2 storey addition, East face fronting road, one plant
door, main entrance North gable end, loft door approached by flight of concrete steps, left opening to right in
addition, 2 plank doors ground floor. Interior: chamfered beads North end, brick malt drying kiln, concave sides
rising from square base with segmental headed opening to kiln, upper part of kiln not inspected, but kiln appears to be
similar to that at Nethecot Farmhouse, Lydeard St. Lawrence parish (qv). Roof and Northern end of structure in poor
condition at time of survey, (October 1983). Primarily listed for historic interior
