Church School, now King's School Carpenters shop. 1856. Local stone rubble with Doulting stone dressings; Welsh slate
roof between coped gables; stone chimney stacks. Single storey school, 2 storey house. Street elevation of 2 bays; bay
1 is half gabled with bell turret braced by buttress with offsets on East; 4-centre arch doorway with fine wood gate in
Gothic style blind window panel with blank shield over doorway; bay 2 wider, gabled with 4-light pointed arch window
with C15 style tracery. East return, onto playground - site of the former National School - has 4 bays; each bay has
separate gable, with chimney breast between bays 1 and 2 and buttress between 2 and 3; bay 4 was the house and projects
slightly: 2-light curvilinear traceried windows high into gables bays 1 and 2; window to bay 3 similar but smaller with
added sidelights, low to left a 4-centre arched doorway; bay 4 has plain cusped paired lancet windows. Interiors not
seen. Building is important in street scene. (Couzens P, Bruton in Selwood, Abbey Press, Sherborne, 1972).
