Post office wall letter box. 1857-59. Cast iron, by Smith and Hawkes of Birmingham. Size 240mm wide x 740mm deep, 3
panel front with hinged internal flap to letter aperture. Wall in rubble, about 1.7 metre high and 2 metres long, lime
rendered. The first pattern wall letter box used by the Post Office, of which only 6 are known to be still in use,
