Detached house. Early C19, Tudor origins. Local stone cut and squared, with ashlar dressings; stone slate roof with
simple gables; brick chimney stacks. 3 storeys, 3 bays. Rusticated ashlar quoins, 16-pane sash windows to ground and
first floor, 12-pane to second, all set flush, with 5-stone voussoired flat heads; to bay 3 a 6 flush-panel door set in
semi-circular arched recess with Regency style fanlight; to East a lower 2 storey extension in coursed rubble with
stone slate roof and brick stack with double 18-pane sash window to lower bay 1 and plain casement windows of 3 and
2-light to upper bays. Interior not seen. Front boundary wall about 1 metre high, of squared stone with simple coping,
with square piers with plain tops and ball finials to West end and two gateways; to South East opposite door pair wrot
iron gates with barbed spearheads to lower and top rail, both rails concave curved: contributes considerably to setting
of this house, on the edge of the settlement. Said to be a Tudor fare settlement, but major part of house rebuilt 1815
using some materials from Stalbridge House (Wakeford, A History of Henstridge, 1953).
