House and byre, now two cottages. Mid C17 with brick
addition of c.1800. Coursed watershot rubble with stone
dressings, stone slate roof and brick chimney stack and
addition. 4 bays in total with 2 storeys through out. 2-
unit house with byre to right, C20 outshot to rear of byre
and brick addition to left with lean-to at rear. Doorway
has chamfered surround and slightly pointed lintel, two
other doors are now blocked up. The door is flanked on left
and right by 4-light flat faced recessed mullioned windows
with chamfered jambs to palour and house-part. The byre
window is of 3 lights. The upper floor has 4-light
chamfered flush mullions except for byre which has 2-lights.
The left hand bay is a later addition in brick but has good
brick decoration and sash windows. The byre is largely re-
built but formerly had a wide animal access door in the
gable. Some windows have early cast iron small pane
glazing. 3-light chamfered flush mullioned window to house-
part, otherwise largely C20 replacements. The rear access
to the parlour has a similar lintel to the front doorway.
Most room retain chamfered beams with stepped stops and
there are remnants of timber framed cross-walls. Formerly
formed part of the Royd estate and may have been Falinge
Hall before the present hall was constructed.
