Group of 5 chest tombs. Late C18 and early C19. Brown sandstone
ashlar.
Northern chest tomb: pedestal tomb. Late C18. Recessed panels, moulded
cornice, chamfered top, and partly fluted ovoid finial with concave
base.
North-west tomb: chest tomb. Dated 1798. Chamfered plinth, recessed
side panels with flanking reeded pilaster strips, and moulded cornice
to flat top. To John Lowe, d. Nov. 2nd, 1798.
South-west tomb: chest tomb. Dated 1844. Chamfered plinth. Raised
side panels with quadrant corners and flanking reeded pilaster strips,
and chamfered top. To Daniel Lowe, d. April 20th, 1844.
North-east tomb: chest tomb. Early C19. Semi-circular side panels
with radial fans in spandrels and flanking corner piers with sunken
rectangular panels and moulded cornice to flat top; sunken end panels.
Inscription illegible at time of survey (September, 1985).
South-east tomb: chest tomb. Late C18. Recessed panels with flanking
reeded pilaster strips, and moulded cornice to flat top. Inscription
illegible at time of survey (September, 1985).
