3/90 The Bottle and
- Glass Public House

GV II

House, now public house. Mid- and late C17 with C18 alterations and
additions. Timber framed with painted brick nogging, front and side walls
rebuilt and the whole extended in painted sandstone rubble with
brick dressings; plain tile roofs. 3 framed bays with addition to
west. Framing: square panels. One storey and attic. South front:
4 gabled eaves dormers with 2-light metal casements; large central
sandstone ridge stack with C19 brick top and external brick end stack
to left. 3-window front; C20 two-light segmental-headed wooden casements;
segmental-headed C19 boarded door between first and second windows
off-centre to left and segmental-headed small-paned glazed door to
right. Blocked segmental-headed door between first and second windows
from right. Right-hand gable end has tie-beam truss with 2 collars,
queen struts and v-struts. C20 flat-roofed addition at-rear. Interior:
pair of chamfered spine beams; ceiling beam in right-hand room with
quarter-round moulding; open fireplace with dressed sandstone reveals
and chamfered lintel.
