Pair of barns, stable and wall. Late C18 and early to mid-C19. Red
brick with grey sandstone hinge blocks; plain tile roofs. L-plan;
3-bay barn with later 2-bay addition at right angles. Dentil brick
eaves cornice to stable; vents in brickwork; C20 roof-lights to barn.
Segmental-headed doors with bullnose reveals. Opposed central boarded
door with evidence of former larger openings to threshing floor (see
straight joints),boarded door to south-east, and loft door and pair
of boarded doors in gable-end to north-west; later barn has pairs of
opposed doors, boarded door to north-east with circular pitching opening
above and pitching opening in gable-end to north-west. Stable adjoining
C18 barn with pair of segmental-headed casements flanking central
segmental-headed boarded door, blocked loft door above, and brick steps
up to segmental-headed boarded loft door in gable end. C18 and C19 wall
to south-west linking barn to former stables and coach house (q.v.).
Interior: King-post roof trusses and pairs of purlins; 2 pieces of belt-
driven machinery: "Albion Root-Cutter" by Harrison and Gregor & Co. Ltd.
and Banford's Rapid Mill, made by Uttoxeter Engineering . The National
