Pair of cottages. Mid-to late C18. Red brick, on red sandstone rubble
plinth to right. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys. Plat band and dentil
brick eaves cornice. Brick ridge stack off-centre to left and integral
brick end stacks. 5-window front; 2-light wooden casements, with segmental
heads to ground floor. Segmental headed boarded door between first and second
windows from right. The second window from the left is a blocked former
doorway (see straight joints beneath). The pair of cottages have been built
in at least 3 stages (see 2 straight joints), the left-hand part without the
plat band probably being the latest addition. Adjoining the cottage in the
centre is the remains of a memorial, consisting of a brick arch and inscribed:
"IN GRATEFUL/REMEMBRANCE OF/JOHN HEATLEY/APRIL 17 1927".
