House. Comprehensive c.1830 remodelling of earlier building with later
additions and alterations. Red brick, slate roof. L-plan with north
wing incorporating parts of earlier house. 2 storeys and gable-lit
attics, dentilled eaves cornice. Late C19 casement-fenestration, 2
directly below eaves and one to ground floor with segmental head to
east range; north range has C20 casement replacing segmental-headed
window to first floor and one segmental-headed casement to right on ground floor.
Entrances through segmental-headed doorway with 6-panel door in north
wing and 4-panel door with rectangular overlight to east range, both
under lean-to wooden verandah in angle between ranges. Large external
end stack to north gable end has flanking crenellated projections with
round-headed arches; integral end stack to east range. West front
of north range has 2 deeply recessed glazing bar sashes to first floor and
an early C20 bay window to lower right; C20 casements to left and
centre with traces of blocked doorway to centre. Interior: close-
studded timber framed walls visible to centre of north range and on
stairs to attic (east external wall of original building); chamfered
ceiling beams to main ground-floor rooms and 2 large fireplaces with
segmental wooden lintels. Oak staircase with plain C19 balusters.
6-panel doors to ground and first floors and plank and muntin doors
with pointed strap hinges to attic.
