Description

NY 34 NE DALSTON

10/99 Rose Bridge

II

Roadbridge over the River Caldew. Early C19. Mixed calciferous and red
sandstone blocks. Narrow bridge of 3 segmental arches on splayed cutwaters;
string course and solid parapet. Parapet projects over cutwaters to create
pedestrian passing places. Earlier bridge washed away in 1803; central date
1828 and initials IB inscribed on the parapet, is probably not the date of
construction.
