Terrace with shops. Early C19. Tooled-and-margined stone; purple slate roof.
Street front 2 storeys, 7 windows. Plinth. From right to left: No. 6,two
bays; part-glazed flush-panelled door on far left, tethering hook in wall on
right of door. 4-pane sashes in left bay, larger renewed 6-pane sash with
12-pane sash in right bay: No. 8 has shopfront with panelled pilasters
flanking central half-glazed doors with margined geometric overlight, and
4-pane fixed windows; two 4-pane sashes above: No. 10 has projecting canted
shopfront with central half-glazed doors with ogee-headed panes and overlight,
and shop windows with arched panes, under moulded stone cornice; renewed
12-pane sash above: No. 12, two bays; right bay has 6-panel door under porch
with octagonal columns and moulded capitals carrying frieze and moulded
cornice; renewed 12-pane sash windows. All windows have slightly-projecting
sills. Nos. 6 and 8 have plain eaves cornice, Nos. 10 and 12 a moulded
cornice on paired moulded brackets. Shallow-pitched hipped roof with 3
stepped axial ridge stacks carrying 6 or 8 shafts with linked caps.
Left return of No. 12 shows 12-pane sashes and moulded eaves cornice on
corbels. Right return 4 irregular bays, including Nos. 1 and 3 The Lane.
No. 1 has renewed door, No. 3 boarded door with 3-pane overlight; varied
fenestration including 12-pane sashes.
Rear elevation: No. 8 shows arched stair window holding 24-pane sash with
radial-glazed head; No. 12 has similar window with intersecting glazing bars.
