The Old Vicarage and railed enclosure to North-west
(formerly listed as Cresswell Guesthouse)

Parsonage house and railed enclosure, now house. Mid-to-late C18.
Squared and coursed limestone (coursed rubble at sides and rear)
and slate roof. 3 storeys and attic. Wooden dentil eaves-cornice,
integral brick end-stacks and semi-external lateral stack at rear.
1:1:1 bay rhythm, that in centre slightly projecting with thermal
window in tympanum of triangular pediment above; glazing bar sashes
with flush frames and flat arches; central door with 6 raised and
fielded panels, Gothick traceried rectangular overlight and door-
case with moulded architrave and triangular pediment supported by
shaped bracket with guttae beneath. Wrought iron railed-enclosure
to front with 3 panels each side of central gate; spearhead railings
and standards with urn finials. Interior: staircase rising 2 floors;
dog-leg with landings and winders, open string, turned balusters (2
per tread), moulded handrail, and square newel posts; timber framed
partition walls (probably of stud construction). This was formerly
the residence of the vicar of Newcastle, a hamlet about 4 miles to
the West of Clun and in Clun C.P.
