Llwyn-y-mapsis Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, now derelict. Datestone 1726 on left gable end with later
additions and alterations. Red brick (random bond) on stepped plinth,
slate roof with shaped gable (altered in C19) to left and raised verges
to right. One storey and attic, continuous brick floor band to front and
gable end; original segmental-headed window openings (casements now missing),
one to left and one to right of door to left of centre, which has flat-
roofed trellised porch; similar window to right of blocked segmental-
headed doorway to right of centre, roughly central gabled eaves dormer,
prominent axial red brick ridge stack to right of centre and C19 red
brick end stack to left. Full-length brick outshut to rear in ruinous
condition at time of re-survey (July 1985). Interior: chamfered spine
beam with ogee stops and heavy joists to centre and left ground-floor
rooms, plain chamfered beam and joists to right ground-floor room;
large inglenook fireplaces with chamfered wooden lintels and C19 cast-iron
ranges beneath ridge stack; oak winder staircase to right of fireplace
in centre room and timber framed cross wall between centre and left
rooms; plank and muntin doors with pointed strap hinges to right gable
end on ground floor and to right-hand bedroom; single-purlin roof
in 3 bays had trusses obscured by plaster at time of re-survey (July 1985).
