Group of former farm buildings in irregular U-plan range, converted to craft
workshops and galleries early 1980s. South-west and north-west ranges,
comprising former oat barn and stables, are late C18-early C19, the stable with
beam dated 1801. North-east cowhouse range with walled pens is later C19.
Coursed rubble limestone with stone slate roofs, the earlier parts with dressed
quoins. Barn has large former cart entry in front bay, with dressed stone jambs
and C20 glazed infill. Other bays have square vent holes. Stable is lofted.
Lower storey has small wooden windows flanking central door, all with concrete
lintels, and external stone steps up to gabled loft door. Lower bay attached to
right, with C20 door and 2-light casement. Low cowhouse range has 5 bays, each
with wide opening blocked by C20 glazed door or false door. In front of each bay
is a pen surrounded by drystone walling with rubble coping. Included for group
value.
