Small country house. C17, extended C18 and resxtored and extended C20. Coursed
rubble stone with stone slate roof and ashlar ridge and end stacks, in part with
double and triple linked flues. 4-unit plan extended to right and with wings to
rear. 2-storey, 6-window range. Stone mullion windows with leaded lights, those
3 to left of 4 lights and 2 2-lights, all probably C20, and those 3 to right of
2 lights and 2 4-lights, probably C17/C18. On ground floor are, from left, a
4-light, a 2-light, door with stone hood, 2-light, 6-light and a 3-light
casement all mainly C20. On right end a C18 extension with door and 3-light
window and 2-light dormer over. Further 1-storey extensions to right. On left
end, partly rebuilt C20, are further 4- and 2-light windows with C20 2-storey
wing to rear. The rear wing parallel to this is probably C17 and has a staircase
turret in the re-entrant angle with the main range. Stone mullion windows are
mainly C20. Main range has stone plinth or base of earlier building. Further C20
wing to left. Interior: chamfered spine beams with ogee stops, a cross-beamed
ceiling arched stone fireplaces in hall, drawing room and bedroom. C20 stairs.
Trenched double purlin roof with clasped principals, Some old rafters, and some
C20 timber added for strengthening.
