Farmhouse. Early to mid-C17 with later additions and alterations. Regularly
coursed marlstone rubble; stone slate roof with coped verges to right gable end;
concrete tiles to rear and slates to C19 additions. T-plan consisting of C17
main range with early C19 gabled addition to rear extended in mid-C19. 2 storeys
and attic. Chamfered mullion windows with dripstones, 2 on each floor to left
and 2 on each floor to right, all of 3 lights except for those to left bay of 2.
Roughly central C19 segmental-arched doorway with recessed half-glazed door;
straight joint visible to left on first floor. 2 gabled leaded dormers in middle
of roof slope. Integral end stack to left and ridge stack with paired and
rebated shafts, dripstone and moulded capping on line with straight joint; C20
ridge stack to right. Right gable end has C19 lean-to abutting and 3-light
mullion window with dripstone to attic. Outline of earlier roof pitch or of
former attached outbuilding visible to left gable end. Rear has 4-centred arch
with plank door to left and 3-light mullion window with label-stop cut by early
C19 addition; infilled rectangular window on first floor to left. Mid-C19
extension to early C19 gabled range has horned glazing bar sash on each floor to
south side. Attached early C19 wrought-iron spear-shaped railings on low stone
wall to front. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (August
1987) but likely to be of interest.
