7/181 Sarsden Cottage

GV II

Cottage, latterly divided into 2. Late C17 or early C18 with later additions and
alterations. Roughly coursed limestone rubble; straw thatch roof. One storey and
attic. Irregular fenestration; 4 eyebrow eaves dormers with 2-light leaded
casements. Ground floor has casement and boarded door to left, 2 casements to
centre, C20 stone porch with imported possibly late C18, doorcase to half-glazed
door to right of centre and casement to right, all windows leaded. Inner boarded
door to porch. Stone ridge stack to centre. Low ranges to left and right, also
thatched, former with C19 fixed-light window to left and casement to right,
letter with 2 leaded casements and truncated end stack. Interior. Inspection not
possible at time of resurvey (August 1987) but said to have stone-flag floors,
chamfered ceiling beams and collar truss roof. Very similar in plan-form and
appearance to the adjacent Cobblers (q.v.).
