7/31 about 10m SSE of porch
of Church of St John.

Bale tomb. c.1760. Enriched ashlar. Moulded plinth and frieze. 3
pilasters to long sides with high relief carving of garlands of fruit and
flowers, outer ones with putti heads; rounded capping broken out in
gadrooning over pilasters. Plain bale with 3 raised panels of vegetable
ornament; urn which formerly capped this monument (like the Aston Memorial
q.v.) removed. Scallop ends, the Western one containing a skull.
Inscriptions to Thomas (died 1731) and Rebeckah (died 1730) Kennet (?).
