House, now office, dwelling and 3 flats. Early C16; late C17 alterations.
Coursed limestone rubble; gabled stone slate roof; end stacks of stone (right)
and stone finished in C20 brick (left); front and rear lateral stacks of stone
finished in C18 brick. 3-unit through-passage plan with rear right wing. 2
storeys and attic: symmetrical 5-window range. Mid C19 Gothic doorways to left
and centre, with cornices over pointed chamfered arches (blocked to centre).
Doorway to right has 4-centred arch with foliate spandrels and strapwork-carved
brackets to broken cornice: mid C19 Gothic door. Hood mould over sunk-chamfered
stone-mullioned and transomed window to left and pediments over similar windows
to right: hood moulds over similar mullioned 3-light windows on first floor.
Rear: hollow-chamfered light, 4-centred chamfered archway to passage. C17
timber-framed roof dormer and stair-turret with 2-light stone-mullioned
hollow-chamfered windows. Rear right wing: early C16, remodelled late C17 and
C20: of similar materials: 2 storeys and attic: 5-window range with 2 similar
2-light mullioned windows: C16 gabled timber-framed dormer with 4-light
wood-mullioned window and turned pendentives. Rear of No.3 (to left) has similar
2-light mullioned window and mid/late C18 two-storey wing with sash and C19
casements. Interior: early C16 rear right wing has stop-chamfered beams and
queen-post roof. with arch-braced collar-truss to front. Front range has late
C17 collar-truss roof with butt purlins and side struts: C16 moulded stone
fireplace and C16 pointed-chamfered doorway to stair-turret, which has winder
stairs. No.3 not inspected but likely to be of interest.
