House, incorporating post office. C17 and early C18. Coursed
limestone rubble with steeply-pitched thatched roof to
original left-hand part and slate roof to later right hand
part. Brick ridge and end stacks. 2 storeys. Left hand part
has small-paned iron-framed gudgeon-hung casement windows with
wooden lintels, a 3-light to ground floor, and a 2-light
ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned window with one light blocked
and cornice over. Right hand part, 2 window range has C20 door
to left and a plate glass shop window. 3- light casement
windows with overlights otherwise. Wooden lintels. Interior
not inspected. Sometime the Royal Oak public house.
