7/88 Malthouse farmhouse.
GV II
Former farmhouse of lobby entrance type. Circa 1600 and later. Rendered
timber frame partially replaced with brick. One added yet C17 colour-washed
returned brick gable-end with stack. Pantiled roof. 2 storeys with attic.
Fenestration mainly C18 of 2 and 3 lights with metal casements and leaded
glazing. Transoms to ground floor windows. One surviving 2-light chamfered
mullion window. Modern gabled porch with former doorway opposite off-centre
axial stack. 2 sash windows with glazing bars in rebuilt south west gable
end. Late C18 hipped roof. Later additions to rear. Original winding
stair to former entrance side of stack. 2 brick fireplaces with 4-centred
arches. Beams with wide chamfers and stepped stops. Re-used clasped purlin
rafters in roof.
