Farmhouse. C17 and C18. Red brick; steeply-pitched roof of smut pantiles,
hipped at south-west corner. Two storeys and attics, L-shaped plan. South
elevation has two shaped gables; four bays with 3-light casements with
transom. Windows set in raised brick surrounds, ground floor openings have
gauged brick arches. Some openings blocked: one at ground floor and two at
first floor level. Platbands at first floor level and at gable springing.
Brick dentil cornice. Shaped east gable on moulded brick kneelers; external
gable stack, corbelled out above ground floor level, with weathered offsets
and rebuilt top. Later slated 2-storey lean-to in north-east angle. East
wall has 2 and 3-light casements, central doorway with blocked window opening
above. Sawtooth brick eaves. Shaped north gable with internal chimney stack;
two attic casements with cross-glazing bars, two blocked first floor openings.
West facade has a shaped gable over an advanced centre bay with a 3-light
casement at each floor level; window set in raised surrounds. Plain brick
pilasters. Fenestration generally 2 & 3 light casements. Flanking the centre
bay, two later projecting porches with shaped gables; the northern porch is
lower and has a blocked doorway with a square brick dripmould and panel in
chamfered recess above. Southern porch has a doorway with rubbed arch and
rectangular fanlight. Doorway at north-west corner with Gothick panelled door
and moulded architrave. Brick modillion eaves. Ridge chimney stack off-centre
to south.
