House, C17 on older core with mid-C19 crosswing to left for Revd. W.W. Andrew.
Brick, plain tiles and some pantiles. 3 bays and chimney bay, 2 storeys and
attic; principal facade to south, crowstepped gables to right; 2 storeyed porch
with crowstepped gables between bays 1 and 2. Mid C19 cross wing to left with
crowstepped gables. Stack to chimney bay between bays 2 and 3 with 4 linked
hexagonal shafts, end cross stack to left; wood modillion cornice to eaves.
Bay 1 with 3-light transomed window to ground floor with leaded lights; first
floor with C19 wood oriel casement; wide gabled roof dormer with 3-light
casement with C17 latches and pintle hinges. Added porch in irregular bond;
brick pointed arch, C18 panelled door to rear; first.floor of porch with renewed
cross window under a flat arch. Flush tripartite sashes with glazing bars
and flat arches to bay 2 ground floor and to bay 3; first floor of bay 2 with
early-C20 oriel casement. C19 cross wing to left, crowstepped gable with stone
finial and rubbed brick kneelers; ground and first floor openings with chamfered
brick surrounds, square hoodmoulds, sashes with glazing bars; attic with Gothic
opening with hood mould and glazing bars. Return of cross wing to left of
3 bays with brickwork and openings to match principal facade; bay 1 with shaped
gable, stone finial and shaped kneelers; full height canted bay with parapet,
storey-height ground floor opening to central cant; attic with Venetian window.
Internal stack to left gable and cross stack to centre both with castellated
caps to shaft. Right return of main range in English bond, ground floor with
large C19 4-light Gothick bay window with embattled parapet. First floor with
blocked opening with quoined jambs, pediment removed, now with C19 cross window.
Blank basket-headed opening to attic. Rear with pantiles; various additions;
3-storeyed stair turret in angle of cross wing and main range with cupola bell
turret with wind vane. Interior: Gothick arches of screen to left of doorway
in rendered brick; fragments of C17 and medieval glass to bay 1 window; 2 C16
moulded tie beams to bay 2; Gothick 3-light opening to rear of bays 1 and 2.
Stack enclosed but bressumer end visible; patera and reeded surround to
fireplace bay 2. Massive moulded doorcase to bay 3. Narrow ducks-nest grate
with Prince of Wales feathers to fireplace of first floor bay 2. Roof with
clasped purlins and collars, new roof constructed over original. Garden wall:
attached to north-east angle, C17 in English bond with C19 embattled parapet;
large inserted archway to courtyard; wall to right ramped with polygonal end
buttress.
