House, once a farmhouse. C16 origins, altered each century including C20.
Flint with brick dressings and thatched roof. Altered lobby entrance plan.
Flint plinth. 2 storeys and attic. South front has 2 doors (divided into
2 properties C19 and C20) under segmental heads. To left of each a large
C16 window opening blocked for C18 window, blocked again and further reduced
to accommodate 2 late C19 casements. 4 casements to first floor, 2 C18, 2
C20. Gabled roof with ridge stack over left door. West gable re-uses ashlar
quoins. Gable head parapeted. Ecclesiastical grotesque used as kneeler.
East gable rebuilt. Rear has full length C19 brick and corrugated tile
outshut pierced by C20 windows. Above are 3 C20 casements to first floor
of main block. Interior. One 3-light hollow mullioned window on ground floor
looks into C19 outshut on north side. Fireplace in eastern ground floor room
under cambered bressummer bearing coat of arms and re-used ecclesiastical
jamb on one side. Roll moulded-bridging beam in ceiling. Doorway next to
fireplace with decorated lintel and hollow and roll moulded jamb. Winder
staircase by stack : C20 stairs but in circular C16 well. Early C18 roof
of principals, 2 tiers staggered butt purlins and collars.
